BANANA YUCCA

SPECIES : Yucca baccata


MATURITY
The banana yucca first flowers at 2 to 3 years of age, and mature plants flower approximately every 2 years if rainfall is sufficient. The flowering period is generally from April to June depending upon latitude and elevation. The fruits and seeds of the banana yucca are edible. Flowers of banana yucca contain about 11 percent protein. Wild rodents browse banana yucca as the flowers and fruits are highly palatable.
