BiogeologyThis is the study of how living things—like plants, animals, and even tiny microbes—interact with the land around them. It looks at how life shapes the Earth and how the Earth, in turn, shapes life. For example, some bacteria can help form minerals, tree roots can break down rocks into soil, and animals can move sediment as they dig or build homes. Over time, these interactions help create mountains, valleys, soil layers, and more. Biogeology connects biology (the study of life) with geology (the study of Earth), showing how deeply connected living things are with the land they live on. |
