Cactus in the Mojave Desert

Old Man Prickly Pear Cactus

Opuntia erinacea

Oblong, elliptical, green to brownish-purple pads. Jointed usually no more than 2-3 pads high. Shaggy appearance. Typically yellow flowers, about 2 inches wide, blooming in May and June.
